The Board of the Montana Chapter of the American College of Cardiology met in person in Chicago at ACC.08. Quarterly conference calls keep the group active and moving forward.

Blair D. Erb, Jr., M.D., Immediate Past President, Bozeman Blair D. Erb, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.C.was elected to ACC Fellowship in 1993. Blair graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1983. He then completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco from 1983 to 1986. He served as Chief Resident in Medicine at Moffitt Hospital at UCSF from 1986 -1987. He completed his cardiology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University, and served as the director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Vanderbilt from 1989-1990. He practiced at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, with the Page-Campbell Cardiology Group where he was active in the Tennessee ACC Chapter, until his move to Montana in 1999. His primary interests are echocardiography, valvular heart disease, and coronary risk factors. Blair lives in Bozeman and practices with the Cardiology Consultants of Bozeman. |

Mark L. Sanz, M.D., Board Representative, Missoula Mark Sanz has practiced interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular intervention in Missoula since 1988. A past Montana Governor for ACC, he has continued at the national level volunteering on several committees pursuing advocacy and quality initiatives. Among others, these include the PAR4 committee, Quality Strategic Directions Committee, and Peripheral Artery Disease Committee at various times. Locally, he has led new programs including carotid stenting, abdominal aneurysm stent-graft repair, and implementation of ACC GAP MI guidelines at St. Patrick Hospital among others. He has been Principle Investigator on over 15 research trials and been co-author on numerous peer-reviewed papers. With a strong interest in computing, he has been a leader in both local and state-wide efforts on telemedicine and electronic records.
Dr. Sanz is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology. He has served as a reviewer for the ABIM Interventional Cardiology Boards.
A family man at heart, his spare time is spent with his wife and two children watching their sports and going skiing, fishing, biking, camping with the family and friends. He volunteers to help with children’s teams. He particularly enjoys biking to work with his son who goes to high school nearby.

Dane Sobek, M.D., Board Representative, Bozeman Dane E. Sobek, MD, a native of Montana, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. He returned to Montana where he acquired his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine through the Montana WWAMI program. He received his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Following his residency, Dr. Sobek was selected to be Chief Medical Resident. He then completed his fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Utah. Dr. Sobek completed an additional two years of advanced Interventional Cardiology training at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Dr. Sobek joined Cardiology Consultants of Bozeman, PC in 2005. He is also on staff at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital where he serves as Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab.
As a representative for Cardiology Consultants of Bozeman, PC and Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, Dr. Sobek presented abstracts at the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions in 2006 and 2008. He also presented at the PCI Summit Meetings in Park City, Utah in 2007. Dr. Sobek was inducted as Fellow of the American College of Cardiology in 2007.
Dr. Sobek is currently board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology. His interests include consultative cardiology, echocardiography, invasive cardiology, coronary angioplasty and stenting, non-surgical atrial septal defect closure, and pacemaker implantation.
